Top 5 Nightclubs in Sheffield

If you’re in the steel city looking for a night out but don’t know where to go. Then look no further. As a Sheffield native and student, I have been to pretty much all of the clubs in city centre. I looked at all of them and broke it down on music, atmosphere, value and overall experience. So here are the top 5 nightclubs in Sheffield.

5. West Street Live

Located on the street of the same name, West Street Live is one of several clubs going down this strip and makes for one of the better destinations when you visit them all. It holds up the bottom of the list however as the most fundamental thing, the music is hit and miss. Sometimes they play a variety of tunes that really suit the vibe and are very enjoyable to dance to while others they lean towards the more cliché club anthems that are tiresome and plain. But of course, that is subjective, but what isn’t is the great value. With free entry, £2.50 doubles Sunday-Thursday and £2.75 triples on Tuesday WSL also has several unique and delicious drinks all at great prices. For me, I have found West Street Live to be the perfect place to start a night out on West Street as it is open every day and the queue always moves fast compared to everywhere else but I have spent a whole night in there before and still thoroughly enjoyed it.

4. Crystal

Open Tuesday-Saturday and just down the road from West Street Live is Crystal who are best known for their themed nights in particular Hallamnation on Wednesday. A student night for Sheffield Hallam University students only it is advertised as however I have gotten in on multiple occasions despite not going to Hallam is probably the best atmosphere out of any club night, the music is great is it always busy and an overall great time. As far as value goes you do have to pay to get in which can vary from £2 to £6 depending on when you get tickets and the drinks vary in prices specific to the night but are for me a little overpriced. The only other downside is although busy can be good Crystal can suffer from being too busy at times and it becomes very hard to move around and difficult to enjoy yourself if you’re with a large group.

3. Duo

Formerly Code until very recently, Duo opened yet again in close proximity to West Street when Code shut its doors as they wanted a smaller venue. And that is exactly what is. Code was great and probably would’ve been number 2 on this list but Duo is just Code but slightly worse. Smaller venue means a little more cramped when it is really busy but also an incredible atmosphere when there’s the perfect amount of people. Cracking music in both rooms but only open on Thursdays Fridays and Saturdays. Thursday being student night which provides £2 doubles whilst the other days it is £3. Entry is once again on a first come first serve basis. The earlier you get your ticket the cheaper it is. Still early days for Duo but so far does just feel like Code but smaller. Solid.

2. Tiger Works

If we were close to West Street Live before this one is literally next door. Tiger Works on the West Street strip is an amazing nightclub. Music almost always hits, free entry and the best value on drinks. £2 triples on infamous Triple Tuesday and £2.75 on any other day of the week as it is open for all 7 Tiger Works also has a really fun vibe. Whenever I am on West Street, we generally spend most of the time in here. Only downside is it is generally quite busy so tend to have to queue up for a while to get in and are probably the least efficient club on this list as far as serving drinks as I have waited a fair while in the past to be served.

1. Corporation

And the number 1 club in Sheffield for me has to be Corporation. By far the club I have been to the most and that is because it is so much fun. 4 rooms so as far as music goes it really caters to anyone’s preferences to a tee. Definitely not the best for value having an entrance fee of £1-£6 and doubles costing £3. But they do also have Corp pints which are £4.50 each but get you drunk fast which is exactly what you want when clubbing. Skint Wednesdays their student night of choice which do make the drinks cheaper also. They run some decent themed nights as well which provide a brilliant atmosphere. The only negative I can think of is that it shuts at 3am which is the earliest out of all on this list, the rest staying open till 4:30am.
