Last October we saw ralph Laurens ready-to-wear collection burst to life at the Huntington Library and Botanical gardens (Northwest of La). The collection showcased a range of grit and glamour, from western cowboy’s hats and belts to a youthful appearance worn by gen Z’s.
“California has always been a land of dreams and contradictions- rugged coasts and red carpets”. I think this was the perfect way to describe the show. It was the perfect snapshot of the breadth and variety of modern style. The casting of various ages and ethnicities helped tell Laurens attempt to shake off the formality of the east coast and embrace the lifestyle of LA.
Throughout Ralphs 6- decade- long career there is hardly anything he hasn’t addressed in some form, Lauren has explored a different perspective from, archetypes and codes that he has already covered.
